About Counting the Omer
The Omer is a 49-day count from the second night of Passover to the eve of Shavuot, marking the journey from the exodus from Egypt to receiving the Torah at Sinai. Each night, a blessing is said and the day's count is announced, traditionally as both a day-number and a weeks-and-days count (for example, "today is 15 days, which is two weeks and one day of the Omer").
Dates here are computed with @hebcal/core and verified against hebcal.com's own daily Omer listing.
Frequently asked questions
What day of the Omer is it today?
See the count at the top of this page — it updates automatically based on today's date, and shows nothing outside the 49-day season.
When do I count the Omer — day or night?
Traditionally at night, after nightfall, before going to sleep — the same sunset-based day boundary used throughout the Hebrew calendar.
